Adult day services are community based group programs designed to meet the needs of adults with impairments through individual plans of care.  These structured, comprehensive, non-residential programs provide a variety of health, social, recreational and therapeutic activities, supervision, support services, and in some cases, personal care.  Occasional respite for less than 3 or for more than 24 hours may be part of Adult Day Services.  Meals and/or nutritious snacks are required and must meet the Recommended Daily Allowance for adults.  These services must be provided in a congregate, protective setting.  By supporting families and other caregivers, adult day services enable participants to live in the community.
What are Adult Day Services?
What does the Indiana Association of Adult Day Services do?
IAADS has a five-fold purpose:
1.  To disseminate information concerning the provision of adult day services
2.  To foster cooperation with colleagues in same and allied fields
3.  To engage in activities which may be considered advantageous to those served by the Association
4.  To develop and facilitate maintenance of minimum standards for adult day service facilities
5.  To conduct an ongoing educational campaign to inform consumers, service providers and
policymakers of the existence of Adult Day Services as a viable option to institutional care
